Allison was born and grew up in Holcomb, Mississippi. She and her husband Corey, with their four children, still live there today. She received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Delta State University in 1998. After a call to teach there a few years later, she went on to Memphis College of Art to receive a masters degree in art. Allison taught in the Art Department at Delta State until 2008. At the birth of her third child she received another call to serve—this time as a full time mom to her three children. Three soon became four when baby Sarah was born in 2012. In 2017 Allison started teaching elementary art at Carroll Academy. In Spring 2020, stranded at home because of Covid 19, gardening became a solace to Allison. Although gardening was not at all new to her, with extra time and children who were becoming self-sufficient, it took on a new life. It has become something she had to share. Allison started her business, Dust Gardens, in January 2021.
"For he knows we are but dust...
and that our days are few and brief, like grass, like flowers, blown by the wind..."
